Musik i Syd runs several types of activities in Skåne and Kronoberg relating to folk and world music. We contribute in various ways to the organising of concerts and dance evenings with professional musicians throughout our regions.
We arrange Korröfestivalen, which attracts thousands of visitors from numerous countries each year. It is the largest event for this kind of music in southern Sweden.
The Småland Music Archive provides access to extensive folk music collections. It also issues various publications.
UNGA Folk is part of UNGA Musik i Syd (YOUNG Musik i Syd), and runs a number of folk and world music projects and events for children and young people.
Musik i Syd is thus like a hub to which many folk and world music events in southern Sweden are linked.
For organisers
Musik i Syd collaborates with a wide range of concert organisers throughout Skåne and Kronoberg. In close networks with the organisers, we aim to contribute knowledge, contacts, experience and professional productions. We do not have a formal catalogue of performances for folk music and world music, but collaboration regarding concerts instead develops continuously throughout the year, in a similar way to how we work with jazz. A collaboration can involve a single concert or a production that tours for a period of time. All the latest activities are presented continuously on the website.
